Experience

In 1992, David Jefferson Dye accepted an environmental scientist position with a major natural gas pipeline company. For the next six years, he managed environmental affairs for pipeline operations and onshore and offshore construction projects in the Southeastern United States and the Gulf of Mexico. Through this work, he gained an appreciation for the challenges encountered in planning, contracting for, constructing, and operating critical infrastructure in a variety of environments. During this time, he also managed multiple soil and groundwater remediation projects in the State of Louisiana and acquired construction permits for onshore and offshore projects from a spectrum of local, state, and federal agencies. In 1998, before moving to New Orleans, he managed environmental affairs in the State of Louisiana and Gulf of Mexico.

He enrolled in law school after moving to New Orleans and opened an environmental consulting practice that focused upon management systems and transactional support. While in law school, he taught a semester-long environmental management course at Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and assisted the City of New Orleans in rewriting its lead-paint ordinance.

Since his admission to the Louisiana State Bar in 2001, Jeff has been a solo practitioner lawyer and has had the privilege of representing clients of all walks of life in state and federal courts across the State of Louisiana. He has served as lead counsel in business and real estate transactions valued at more than $15 million and has served as lead trial counsel in contract, real estate, construction, Louisiana public bid law, personal injury, environmental, oil & gas, and breach of trust cases. He has jury trial and pro-bono criminal defense experience.

Ethics

Ethical considerations exist in every personal and professional decision Jeff makes. Honesty and high ethical standards are essential in his daily practice and are as important as efficiency and expertise. Jeff’s communications are thorough, consistent, and assertive without sacrificing kindness and respect for others and without compromising objectivity and the law. In the courtroom, Jeff will give ethical considerations the highest priority and will not tolerate any appearance of impropriety.
